Co-produced by the Orlando Chinese Association and Orlando Heart Film Productions, the film How to Throw a Block Party in Chinatown has just wrapped production. Over the coming year, it will be featured in multiple film festivals, bringing the richness and creativity of Chinese culture to a wider international audience.
This is a film that speaks through movement. With no dialogue or narration, the entire story is told through physical expression, rhythmic pacing, and visual storytelling. Centered around a group of artists coming together to throw a block party, the film uses silent comedy to celebrate the energy and unity of the Chinese community.
In addition to professional actors, the cast includes a diverse group of traditional Chinese performers—spanning Peking opera, Sichuan face-changing, folk dance, calligraphy, acrobatics, and martial arts. These elements come together to blend classical aesthetics with modern rhythm, offering a fresh portrayal of Chinatown through both culture and art.
Behind-the-scenes footage is now available, capturing the vibrant energy of the set and the collaborative spirit behind the production. Through these moments, viewers can witness how passion, persistence, and creativity brought this unique silent film to life.
